RED certification

European Regional Certificatio | 2018-12-13

The 1999/5/EC directive has been implemented for many years, and many places can not meet the existing products. In fact, the EU has already started drafting new directives in 2007, but the progress is not so fast. So it submitted a draft to the European Commission in 2011. Finally, on May 22, 2014, the EU officially issued a new version of the directive RED 2014/53/EU, which was based on the new EU CE Framework Resolution 768/2008/EC. RED 2014/53/EU replaced the original EU wireless device. Standby instruction R&TTE-D 1999/5/EC. Since the new EU Directive was officially issued and came into force, there will be a two-year transition period. From June 13, 2016, the original R&TTE Directive 1999/5/EC will be abolished, and products that have been evaluated under the old Directive will continue to be sold until June 13, 2017. After June 13, 2017, the EU market will only allow the sale of wireless equipment assessed according to the new RED 2014/53/EU. The purpose of the new directive is to clarify the scope of spectrum usage, improve the effectiveness of spectrum usage, and facilitate the implementation of regulations and market monitoring among member countries. Before wireless products can be legally sold in EU countries, they must be tested and approved in accordance with RED instructions, and they must also have CE-mark. Wireless remote control products must meet the RED instruction RED 2014/53/EU requirements. RED certification scope 1. Short-range wireless remote control products (SRD) such as remote control toy car, remote control alarm system, remote control doorbell, remote control switch, remote control mouse, keyboard, etc. 2. Professional radio remote control products (PMR) such as professional wireless intercom, wireless microphone, etc. 3. Radio telephone CTO, CT1, CT1; 4. ISDN (digital telephone products); 5. DECT; (Enhanced Digital Radio Telephone); 6. Mobile GSM, CDMA testing; 7. Bluetooth products such as: Bluetooth headset; 8. Inductive data transmission equipment with working frequency < 9 kHz; 9. Wireless broadcasting receiver equipment. The difference between RED certification and the old version of R&TTE 1. The range of RED products only includes wireless communication and wireless identification equipment (such as RFID, radar, mobile detection, etc.). Radio frequency devices, which are not used for communication or identification, are in the control of EMC instructions and LVD instructions; 2. TTE is removed, so RED instructions are only used for wireless products; 3. Radio broadcasting receivers are now included in the scope of RED instructions (previously covered in EMC instructions and LVD instructions of low voltage); 4. Instruction coverage frequency; The lower limit of the rate has been abolished (before the starting frequency of R&TTE control is 9 kHz), while the upper limit is still 3000 GHz; 5. The evaluation opinions of announcement agencies have been replaced by "type inspection certificates"; 6. Only after the quality system has been evaluated by the announcement agencies can manufacturers use CE signs with announcement agency numbers (complete quality assurance-type H); 7. Category II equipment orientation The requirement of national spectrum agencies for notification is no longer needed; the identification (warning number) of Class 8 and II equipment is no longer needed, but the warning for restricted use in some countries still needs to appear in product packaging; 9. CE marking is no longer required in user manual, but the frequency band and transmission power of radio frequency must be indicated in manual; 10. Suite for personal evaluation. No longer controlled (that is, RED certification is not required); 11. The new instructions require the use of a unified charger; 12. The manufacturer's and importer's address and contact information must appear on the device, and when the device is too small, it can appear in the user's manual. These and other future changes will affect your product certification in this year and the next few years, so it is necessary to start taking the new instructions into account in the design and marketing of your products, especially for newly added products, such as wireless broadcasting receiver equipment and inductive data transmission equipment with operating frequency less than 9 kHz. According to the new EU Framework Resolution 768/2008/EC, the RED Directive also clearly stipulates the responsibilities of manufacturers, importers, distributors and EU representatives. The name and address of the manufacturer and importer must be identified on the product or on the accompanying instructions. RED certification test project 1, EMC test; 2, LVD test (in the new directive, RF products for battery input are also required to carry out this test); 3, radio communication equipment test (RF test) according to European ETSI standards; 4, Notification of European permitted spectrum; 5, CTR (TBR) test; 6, electrical appliances. Safety and health protection test (SAR assessment).
