On March 3, 2017, SASO issued the energy efficiency standard SASO 2874:2016 for commercial air conditioning, which put forward different MEPS requirements for different types of air conditioning. The standard shall be enforced six months from the date of its promulgation.
I. Product scope:
Electric unit air conditioning (except air conditioning included in SASO 2663);
Condensing unit;
Water chilling unit;
Absorption chiller;
Electric variable refrigerant (VRF) air conditioning;
Precision air conditioning and condensing units in machine room.
The products excluding water-cooled chillers are single-phase 220V/60Hz or 230V/60Hz. Dual voltage or voltage range should cover the above voltage. Three-phase is 380V/60Hz or 400V/60Hz. Special voltage products not covered by this standard shall be approved by SASO if they do not exceed 660V. Water-cooled chillers are under 15,000 V.
2. Test conditions:
Water cooling system according to the corresponding test standards;
Precision air conditioning in machine room is in accordance with SASO 2874.
Other air conditioners are under T1, T3 and 52 C maximum operating conditions. MEPS is based on T1 operating conditions.
III. Product Registration
Using the AHRI authentication program
Hold valid AHRI certification for registration. If the product has not passed the AHRI certification or the product has been removed from the certification, the registration will be cancelled automatically. The maximum operating conditions at 52 C are tested or self-declared.
Test report
Register with the authorized test laboratory test report, which includes refrigeration capacity and EER under T1 and T3 operating conditions. The maximum operating conditions at 52 C are tested or self-declared.
A test sample.
The deviation of test power consumption, refrigeration capacity and energy efficiency ratio from the declared value is less than 5%, and the test energy efficiency ratio is greater than or equal to MEPS.
IV. Market Supervision
Register with AHRI Authentication Program
For such products, SASO checks the validity of AHRI certification.
Use test report registration
SASO conducts market spot checks and tests a sample according to the test standards used at registration. The deviation of test power consumption, refrigeration capacity and energy efficiency ratio from the declared value is less than 5%, and the test energy efficiency ratio is greater than or equal to MEPS.
